Who should take this course?

If you want to look cooler than the person next to you, or If you like to dive with a different configuration, either with one tank or two tanks mounted on your side instead of at your back. If you like the comfort of knowing that you can dive with 2 independent air sources, or if you simply want to keep up with your buddies who are more efficient with their own air consumption, or if you simply want to look different underwater, then this specialty course is for you!

The PADI recreational sidemount specialty course is not about technical diving. It is as fun, and as recreational as a traditional backmount diving is so do not get intimidated by it.

What will you learn?

Through hands-on training during 4 scuba dives and guidance from your PADI Professional, you’ll discover:

  • How to choose configure your sidemount rig, route regulator hoses, adjust your trim underwater;
  • You will also improve your buoyancy skills, learn different kicking techniques;
  • Manage your gas supply by switching between 2 regulators;
  • and more importantly, respond to problems and issues when diving sidemount.

Get credit! The second dive of this PADI Specialty Diver course may credit as an Adventure Dive toward your Advanced Open Water Diver certification – ask us about earning credit.

What scuba gear will you use?

You’ll want to use your own mask, fins, snorkel and exposure suit. Our instructors will throughly explain the sidemount equipment you’ll need, such as a BCD and harness configured for sidemount diving along with cylinder staging kits, each with a regulator and SPG.

We highly recommend that you purchase  your own sidemount hardness as they are highly personalized, configured a little more complicated and you would want to become more familiar with your own sidemount rig. However, we will have sidemount rig for your to use as part of your training.
